Er, Hei?
Is anyone out there? I can't help but feel this community is a little bit dead. Anyone want to talk?

Ja, why is that, I wonder? It's sad :(

But hei! How are you again? :D

I don't know, I see tons of news, but people tend to discuss it on Tumblr. Problem there, for me, is that blogging/social networking sites in the form of Facebook and Tumblr and Twitter scare me half to death. I just pop on Tumblr to get lots or picture and become hysterically jealous at all the concerts people are going to, because Kaizers never stop touring, expect when it comes to North America. Which is a total bummer for me... Anyway, I guess all the people available for discussions are over there :P

That's actually really funny, because it's 1:06am here, so technically I should be sleeping.
Er, doing okay. Was actually up writing for a bit, now I've dried up and can no longer sleep, so I'm resorting to scouring the internet for people to talk to :)

You are so very right. What do you want to be Tumblr, we're waiting! :P All it's options and buttons and reblogging really does freak me out, though, really it does.

Hm, ja, , I did that for a while, but now I just end up either typing "Kaizers Orchestra" into Google and going to the recent stuff, or I pick and prod through Tumblr when I can spare my spastic brains XD I don't really know how I manage to keep up, actually. Though I am almost always late on things, seeing how I'm in a totally different country. Canada, while very large and very peaceful, is dull and struggles to produce anything as epic as Scandinavia and Europe (namely Kaizers, Nephew, Muse, and Doctor Who).

Not really. Just school. :)

I'd love to be able to sleep tomorrow at 10:30! But I'm rather enjoying myself now :) I love meeting new people!

I'm sure you'll make it! Everyone has their dry spells. You just need to know your tricks. For me, it's a long walk with Helge (my iTouch) and then a nice cup of tea when I get home; sometimes I'll call my best friend and talk her through plot for hours at a time; and sometimes all I need is a short nap.

What do you write, by the way? What genre? Do you have any current projects?

Why thank you ever so! Sadly I don't remember who I stole it from... hm... I think I was decent enough to credit them, but I can't see it now, haha.

Question for you: You're from Bavaria, right? I have a friend- acquaintance, really- from there and she had never heard of Kaizers before. She insists that there isn't a fanbase there at all, despite me even showing her the German Fansite and everything. What's your verdict?

Ah, ja. I suppose I just have too much time on my hands. :P

Nah, I'm just being bitter. I want to see the world and do interesting things, and Canada... well, people here don't know anything I know about. It makes it really difficult to find people I connect with. I almost feel as if I'm away from home, as if I belong somewhere else entirely. I've always been more into BBC and British music, and now I'm also heavily involved in Nordic film and music as well, so the need to move towards my obsessions grows ever stronger. But I do love my country I really do; it just wouldn't hurt to gain some kind of identity. We're always so busy trying to appear as if we have one that we completely cock it up and look horribly passive. This is only my opinion, anyway :)

Nah, though I might turn in soon. I feel myself getting a bit woozy and my typing is getting outrageously insulting in regards to spelling and grammar, I'm sure XD

Fantasy is nice. I've always been one for Psychological dramas and such myself. I must admit that I do write a lot of fanfiction (as I'm sure you could tell by checking out my livejournal page), and it's mostly what I post. I keep most of my original stuff to myself, while the fanfiction is lighthearted and keeps me entertained.

I completely understand about Torchwood 3, by the way. I respect your decision to back the hell out while you had the chance! Haha.

I've giving up on being a writer, as I enjoy it and find it amusing, I can't see myself selling any book, no matter what people tell me :) so I see what you mean. Though if it means a lot to you, I suggest you go for it!

Oh, you proud folk, you :P
Hm, I see. That's interesting. I'll tuck that away as future knowledge. I'll also tell her, just for the hell of it, that I've talked to a Bavarian who is a fan of Kaizers, just because she bugs me and... it's hard to explain, but it'll work for what I'm trying to achieve XD

Ja, I don't understand why Kaizers don't have more fame beyond Norsk regions and some of Europe. Most people here haven't heard of them at all and are surprised when I introduce them to the band and they realize what they've been missing out on! I love Muse and all (like, a hard core fan from the good old days), but we need more bands like Kaizers who are willing to be unique and push the boundaries of what is considered "popular" music. If anyone can, it will be them, I'm sure of it.

I've been to the US (I would be ridiculous if I've lived so long in Canada and still haven't), and I can't really say you'll miss out on much. Though I must admit that Oregon is lovely, and the people are less ignorant than the ones you might find in California or elsewhere. Also, you haven't lived until you've been to San Francisco. San Fran was definitely my top favourite destination! You can't even tell you're in the US; you'd think you were in a totally different country. It has soul :)

Oh, ja, we should definitely keep this going (I'll be back later). Besides, I'm rather enjoying talking to you!

Hm, well, maybe "Psychological Drama" wasn't the way to put it.. er, Maestro- the album- actually explains it pretty well. Psychological horror/thriller works better than drama XD I even wrote a little something called "Asylum" that is, admittedly, fanfiction, though can definitely be read as original work, and it's completely inspired by Maestro. It's very twisted and very dark, and I am very proud of it.

Hahaha well, I'm not sure anything but Asylum would suit you in my repertoire then. I mean, I write this stuff for fun, and my other work gets all the plot (which I find difficult to conceptualize anyway), so, you know, I try to be intelligent and really strive to boil up the emotion and mentality of the characters, but most of what I write is slash. However, I do have very high expectations, like you, when I read it myself. I like romance (as I said: I write it!) but it MUST be done well. Angst and psychological drama is the key, ladies and gents, and most people just haven't grasped that quite yet. Then again, most people who write fanfiction nowadays are 13 year old girls and are giving the trade bad rap. If you really think about it, to write good fanfiction is tricky stuff in regards to characterization and the limits that a show, novel, etc, give you to work with.

Well, don't give up. Maybe something will work out some day!

Haha maybe I SHOULD explain. This girl is here as an international student, and I befriended her because she was all alone and I know how that feels and was genuinely interested to get to know a foreigner. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of my better ideas, because it turns out that her and I are very, very different people. She's into mainstream music, fashion, anything "in style" in regards to books, movies, opinions and gossip. She thinks that I hate everything, even though I just have very strong opinions and while i try to see both sides of every argument, it doesn't work out so much for hers, no only for the language barrier, but there isn't much to defend on her side of the court. She also thinks that my music is weird. She thinks that Kaizers are too strange and doesn't know why they would be popular anywhere. Her, and almost everyone else treat me almost like a caged animal to be gawked at, just because I have peculiar and distinguished taste. I have standards, and apparently thats odd. So, haha, ja, that's why; I want to rub it in that someone from her own country (or I should say State, right?) knows, appreciates, and enjoys what Kaizers does and what they represent.

Which leads me into this next bit of my reply :)
Mattytardis_child on January 30th, 2012 12:18 pm (UTC)
(hahaha I exceeded the maximum word count, so here's the rest)

Ja, I don't even remember how I came across them, but all I recall is searching them on youtube, seeing Helge in his gas mask playing his organ on a tortured landscape whilst creeping the camera, and me going "THESE ARE MY KIND OF PEOPLE!" Obviously, I'm talking Evig Pint XP Then, after that- as I always do with anything I even remotely like, because i am a VERY obsessive person- I did some digging, watched everything there was on every media front, learned all there is to know about each and every member of the band, and... well, here I am now and I never want to go back XD I mean, I was strange before, but these guys managed to truly portray me; who I am, and how I see the world. I never thought it would be possible, until they came along, to perfectly explain myself and how I function. I do know that sounds ridiculous, but really, it's true.

Bring the revolution! Resistansen!

I adore that they sing in their own language- and not only that, but their own dialect! That's a huge step in the name of the music industry. A breath of fresh air in a world so consumed by the need to conform. As a writer, the first thing I look for in a band is the quality of their lyrics, and seriously, when I began listening to Kaizers, Janove's (and Geir's) song-writing blew me away. The emotion he contains within even the most poorly translated of words is enough to cripple you emotionally. On top of it is the sound, of course, which stands second to none. Organ, banjo, upright bass (as a Cellist I relish this detail) and every underrated instrument is represented and empowered by what these men are doing, what they're accomplishing. And the cherry on top is the brilliance of their live performances. I prefer almost every single song they have live to the recording. And that says something when the recording is also a live studio recording. In conclusion, these men have taken every aspect I check for bands I listen to (writing their own lyrics and those lyrics being good; fantastic live, as in actually playing live and being good) and have gone far beyond those expectations, surpassing the call of duty.

Oh, be sure that it is. I've found my niche, and my life feels complete! ALmost. I have to see a concert before that actually happens! :P

I'm glad you agree. Music is also my life, one of the most important things to me, at the top of my values. When I come across someone who feels the same, well, it means a lot to me.

I wish I spoke a different language instead of being born with English. I mean, yes, it's the most adaptable and prevalent language in our day, but it's so boring! I feel mundane just speaking it sometimes. I feel this half of the time, actually, because the other half is stuck in Lit-geek mode, fawning over any kind of historical text I can find. XD

Is it? Hahaha, I don't know. I've never really considered going to Austria.

Well, I'm not saying don't go, but it's good to be prepared for hysterics and great difficulty not bashing peoples' heads in :P

Your German-Nazi comment just made my day; and seeing how well it's going so far, that's big XD

Oh, well, unfortunately I have written some straight smut, so avoid that XD I can't help it sometimes, despite my high-regard of well-written and constructive stories, I do feel the need to revolve the smut door sometimes. Haha. I'm sure you'll know enough by glancing at each of my posts to know which you will be fine with and which will disgust you, though, so I trust you won't need my guidance. Though that was something of a warning :P

Sometimes I could say there is more crap on the shelves than on peoples' computers. :O

Hm, I don't consider myself exaclty in any sort of fandom or bandom either, really. It's hard to when there's no real community for anything you write, and the stuff you are interested in, you don't necessarily participate, but merely observe. :)

I know, right? I'm having such a hard time being nice to her right now. Especially when everyone is telling her she's so intelligant when all she is IS ignorant and a bit slow and just regurgitates information to get perfect scores on tests. ANYONE can do that. She can't think for herself, and to me, that is intelligence. And I know, I know that intelligence is subjective, but to me, if you can't think and formulate opinions on your own, or at least understand what you are saying, then you are not worthy of the title "intelligent", sorry.

I will be sure to bering that apokalyptic revelation next I see her. However, I haven't seen her today (which may or may not be a good thing)

Yes, one thing I've noticed of you Bavarians is your pride! XD I don't mind it though, especially as us Canadians are always being so modest all the time. It gets irritating hahaha.

Well, ja. English is lovely in literature, but I would be learning it anyway if I was born speaking another language and then I would automatically have two languages down. Then most even learn a third and a fourth. We english have no need to learn another language (not that we shouldn't, don't get me wrong), but everything's laid out for us so we get quite comfortable. BEsides, I can never settle on a language. I've tried Spannish, French, and German and didn't take much to any of them. Then again, I don't much like learning language in a classroom.

French is pretty important, though it's rather complicated to explain the history.

HAha oh noes! I knew this would happen! XP

Nah, you've a point. See, I was thinking... writing fanfiction is the equivalent to a band writing and performing a love song. There are the really bad love songs out there, that we- the barons of good taste- cringe at- then there's the good love songs with purpose, like the ones we get from Muse and, through variation, Kaizers. The one thing I can say about my smut, is that I strive to fulfil the ultimate emotion and reason for it to be happening. See, I don't see a problem with straight smut as long as it has reason. I won't read just any old smut that is not giving an explanation of the reasons behind it. Not unless that's what's supposed to be happening so it can be mulled over later :P I don't know..

Well, the universal "/" of slash is used in all languages and countries. And you don't spell their names any different. So, I can rightly say, the only Kaizerslash that I have come across other than my own (dear god) is something put in DA way back in 2008/09. I'm still rather confused where it all is.

Oh, well put indeed!

I agree. Work books and silly assignments are nothing compared to being immersed in the culture.

Hahaha why thank you. Ja, it has to be done tastfully. It's as simple as that.

You never know! I've posted tons of stuff and it just hasn't seemed to catch on. Even the people seem interested and generally regard Kaizers as being slashy to the hilt. Yet I've not very many comments or anything. But I do have lots of page views. It's all very confusing and paradoxical. :S Haha this is all reminding me very much of Fight Club. You don't talk about Kaizerslash. Kaizerslash is taking over the world. But you can't talk about it. Everyone is desperate for Kaizerslash. But you can't have it. XD Epic. I wish more people would write it and be involved in it though. I"d like to not be alone anymore! And it's so new there's so much potential! Nothing's been done! :D

Hahaha oh, I have and quite enjoy it actually. Sadly, I have much trouble letting it out of the box while I'm at school. People generally treat people like us, you and me, like witches in a witch hunt. You expose yourself even a little, and you're dead. Like what I was saying before, about people thinking I'm weird. I don't have any friends because of it. Well, I do, just not where I live now. :)

Ja, I suppose that just don't. I mean, I don't comment much either, not unless I REALLY have something to say- like you- but when I say it, I say it well and detailed. As Kaizerslash was something I kind of just tried out, a it doesn't really exist for some bizarre reason, I would've liked people to maybe tell me what they think of it all, you know? Though, I guess since no one's told me I'm a horrible persona and to take it all down... :) Did you notice how back in 2009 everyone was gasping for Kaizerslash and now no one seems to be left? Weird.

Agreed. I don't know why Gerard Way is in all the bandom. Janove is by far the most attractive man on earth (give or take a few people XD), tends to appeal to everyone, no matter their tastes, and is so beyond slashy he basically writes it himself. Why isn't he in that position? Oh right, American band trumps epic Norwegian band. Or at least it seems that way :(

Haha that might be it. I don't know, I'm pretty liberal with it all. Probably because I come from the netherworld of Museslash :P

Hm, it's not that I care or don't care. It's that I can't be bothered to be anything but bored and cynical while at school. I don't have the energy to be myself around people who only avoid me in the first place. How strange I must be, to have people treat me like I have two heads while the most I'm doing in their presence is singing Norwegian music and drawing geeky things in Art and Silk Screening?

Oh! I'm thinking of doing a Kaizers t-shirt in Silk Screening. You have any ideas for designs? I know I'm also going to do a Nephew one, but I think I've worked that one out... it's either just going to be their logo, followed by their name on the same line, then right below the same thing but upside down :) either that, or my ultimate plan, the one I really, really want to do: "Give a Viking Fuck" XD and of course censoring the word "fuck" somehow, because I wouldn't be able to print it otherwise. I don't know, I think it's brilliant XP

Well, if you look at some people's posts from back then, they're asking for it. And some complained that nothing was out there.

I've never heard the term "fueled by ramen" before haha. Does it mean anythig in particular? I always say, when you go to a festival and you see teeny-boppers in FOB tees, turn around and run for your life. They're crazy. Or at least here they are. They scare me.

Well ja, I always state very clearly that I am not writing the actual people. I'm using them, people who look like them and have their names, to fulfil my silly fantasies. I really want people to understand that completely. I have no intention to offend.

I used to be really in to them, actually. But now I don't get what I ever saw in them. Then again, I don't feel as if my past is apart of me now. I hate my old self and don't ever wish to go back.

I can totally see that too XD Oh god it's hilarious.

I love the UK, ja, but I don't understand why bands stick solely to it's regions and call that a "European Tour". It makes no sense. But that's like European bands coming here, calling it a "North American Tour" but never stepping foot in Canada. So I feel your pain.

Haha ja, I was listening to "Descendants of King Canute" on repeat a few days ago and couldn't stop laughing out loud at that line "we give a Viking fuck". Oh Simon Kvamm, I love you. XP

Well, I want to just say "fuck", but as our silk screening class is registered as an actual business and represents the school, we're not allowed to soil that good reputation. It's bullshit, but I respect my art teacher enough to not feel the need to rebel. I'll find a way around it somehow. I don't know what I'll do though. I could do a gas mask, but that's very Kaizers. Then again, I could represent both bands at the same time by doing that... hm... something to think about :)

Oh, I see. Now that you mention it, I think I knew that, somewhere in the back of my brain. But, ja, they all do sound the same.

I WISH I could go to the UK to see bands. I am desperately in need of a concert. I'm going stir crazy!

Oh, haha, ja. Have you listened to Nephew? They even did a collaboration with Kaizers in... 2009...? I think. But ja, they performed Descendants of King Canute and Jesus Jesus together and it was absolutely fantastiche!

I's like to be able to just say it, but ja, you see the problem.

Just a little bit :P

Oh really? Huh, well you most definitely should. They're awesome! And ja, they have connections to Kaizers; a DR2 Backstage performance from 2009 (I couldn't remember all the details before :) )
